Here we pay homage to the beautiful Super Tuscan blends of Italy. Formerly called "Prima Miscella" meaning "First Blend" in Italian; these days we just call it "Prima." As the Super Tuscans are traditionally blended, this wine is always Sangiovese dominant, and rounded out with up to three Bordeaux varieties (typically Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc & Merlot).
The 2012 vintage was perfect for Sangiovese – no heat spikes or cold spells. The 2012 Prima is a blend of 60% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The brightness of the Sangiovese combined with the unctuousness of the Bordeaux varieties make this wine perfect for a wide range of dishes.
90pts - Wine Advocate - "Spice, red fruits and dried flowers emerge from the tiny-production (there are just 85 cases) 2012 Prima, which is balanced, forward and charming. It has light tannin and is already hard to resist."
